Royal Jordanian is Jordan's principal national air carrier operating scheduled international services that span four continents. Its main base of operations is Jordan's main airport, Queen Alia International Airport, which is located in the outskirts of Amman.

The Airline was founded on December 9, 1963. Its operations were launched on December 15, 1963 in pursuance of a royal decree by the late King Hussein.  Founded with capital from private shareholders, the Jordanian Government subsequently came to own Alia as Jordan's national carrier.

Amman - Royal Jordanian Board of Directors chaired by Nasser Lozi approved in its October 28, 2009, session the financial results for the first nine months of 2009. RJ achieved net profits of JD25.5 million, against JD3.8 million in net losses incurred during the same period of last year.

RJ, the oneworld member, achieved net profits of around JD7.7 million, against JD4 million in net losses incurred during the same period of last year.
