The airline was founded in 1989. It is based in Khartoum, Sudan, and operates regional air charter services as well as maintenance and aircraft ground handling.

The airline was founded by two aircraft engineers, namely, Mr. Fathallah Kronfli and Mr. Fayez Zaki, who together own the airline and form the board of directors.

Blue Bird Aviation has become the foremost provider of scheduled and line maintenance for light aircraft operating in the humanitarian field in the Sudan. Actually, it is the only company in Sudan with a license to maintain foreign registered aircraft.
