Air Algérie SpA incorporated in 1947 is the national flag carrier airline of Algeria. Between 1947 and 1974 Air Algérie was the ownership of Air France. In 1974 the government of Algeria solely acquired the airline. From its operating base in Houari Boumedienne Airport, Air Algérie operates scheduled international services to 39 destinations in 28 countries in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as domestic services to 32 airports, in addition to charter services catering to oil exploration and the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. It staff members are approx 9,000. 

Air Algérie invested 400 million Euros in November, 2010 covering fleet moderation t.  Air Algérie is a a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance and has an alliance with Tunisair

Recently, Air Algérie restructured into separate operating units: maintenance, domestic routes, international routes, cargo and service tour operator. as a result four subsidiaries were incorporated: Technics Air Algérie, Air Algerie Catering, Domestics and Air Algérie Cargo.
