Etihad Airways based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the flag carrier. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport, and operates flights to the Middle East, North America, Africa, Europe, Far East, and Oceania. The airline was founded in July 2003, with Abu Dhabi as its hub. It currently flies to 43 destinations and plans to expandto 70 destinations in the coming two years. A subsidiary of the airline, Etihad Crystal Cargo, operates air cargo services. |

Etihad Airways has signed a contract with Atlas Air, Inc. to provide the UAE flag carrier with its first Boeing 747-400 Freighter.The aircraft, with a payload capacity of 124 tons, will be used by Etihad Cargo to transport fresh produce, machinery and garments on routes to and from Africa, Europe, India and China over the Abu Dhabi hub.
