Tuesday, 25 January 2011

Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) and International Aero Engines AG (IAE) have signed a general terms of agreement whereby IAE will support ADAT in becoming an IAE approved MRO shop capable of performing B3 level overhaul of the V2500 engine series.

The new capability will exclusively support the overhaul and repair requirements of Etihad Airways’ fleet of V2500 powered A320 Aircraft.

Commenting on the signing, ADAT CEO Jeremy Chan said: “I am sure that this will be a highly rewarding partnership with IAE as ADAT continues to develop its engine overhaul capabilities further. This agreement is built on our commitment to forming strong alliances with OEM’s and is an exciting milestone for the company.’
IAE Executive Vice President Customer Business Jim Guiliano added: “This agreement enables us to leverage the experience of the ADAT Engine Overhaul Division in support of our key customers in the UAE and beyond. ADAT’s investment in V2500 upgrade capability is a vote of confidence in the future of this highly successful engine and is complementary to our strategy of delivering the best available performance and cost of ownership across our rapidly expanding Middle East customer base.”

The new capability is targeted to be operational by October 2011 and ADAT will market these services on a non-exclusive basis to other operators of the engine type.

This will be a further addition to the company’s expanding Medium to High Thrust Turbofan Overhaul and Repair programmes
