Oman Air Orders Rolls-Royce Trent 700 Engines for the New Airbus A330 Aircraft

Oman Air Airbus A330 in flight.The airlines' current fleet consists of four Airbus A330-200s, three Airbus A330-300s, 17 Boeing 737-700s/800s, four Embraer E175s and two ATR 42s.
Oman Air placed  selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to power the three Airbus A330s aircraft on order, the agreement with the engine maker includes long-term service support.

The Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines powers Oman Air’s current fleet of four A330-200s and three A330-300s, introduced since 2009.

Salim Al KIndy, Chief Technical Officer, Oman Air, said: “Our new Airbus A330s will play an important role in Oman Air’s continued expansion and we are pleased that they will be powered by the outstanding Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine.

"Our evaluations found the Trent 700 to be the best solution for our fleet and that it will provide market-leading environmental performance, with low emissions, noise and fuel burn. Furthermore, Rolls-Royce TotalCare service support provides us with the ability to maximise aircraft availability and manage servicing cost, enabling us to plan effectively and ensure that our reputation for outstanding passenger service is strengthened.”

Andrew Harper, Vice President Customers – Civil Large Engines, Rolls-Royce, added: “Oman Air is an important Middle East customer and we are delighted it has once again shown its commitment to our products and services.”

The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and more than 1,400 Trent 700 engines are currently either in service or on order.

Oman Air is expanding its aircraft fleet with eleven Boeing 737 aircraft, six Boeing 787 aircraft and three Airbus A330 aircraft.
