Norwegian Air Shuttle, a European low cost carrier and Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa's MRO wholly owned subsidiary have extended the wheels and brakes, pooling and home-based services contract for 7 years covering the airline's fleet of 69 Boeing 737 aircraft.

Lufthansa Technik have also developed an extended logistics concept catering for a "door-to-door" connection between the Lufthansa Technik site in Frankfurt and Norwegian Air Shuttle's main bases in Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Asgeir Nyseth, chief operating officer of Norwegian Air Shuttle, said: "In the past we have made good experience with Lufthansa Technik's support in different technical services and they facilitate Norwegian's sustained growth. That is the reason why we have decided to continue and even expand the contract for wheels & brakes services with Lufthansa Technik",

Wolfgang Weynell, vice president marketing and sales at Lufthansa Technik, added: "Over the past years we have established a very close relationship between our two companies. This latest contract is a great proof that our success-story will continue. We will do our best to remain Norwegian Air Shuttle's preferred technical partner also in the future."

The two companies started their relationship with a total component support for Boeing 737-300 aircraft six years ago, landing gear services, wheels & brakes services for the Boeing 737-800 aircraft and engine maintenance services for the CFM56-7B engines of Norwegian's fleet.

Lufthansa Technik's branded total base maintenance support TBS[TM] for the Boeing 737-800 fleet and a wheels and brakes services contract for the airline's 787 fleet was signed a few years earlier.
