Dubai, The Emirates Group (the holding company of Emirates Airlines), one of the largest employers in the UAE, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP) to encourage career development for Emirati high school graduates.
The MOU specifically address the need for operational staff; such as pilots, cabin crew, engineering and airport services. Successful candidates will be placed in front-line areas such as the new Concourse 3 and in Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, the newly-appointed Tawasul call centre and in Emirates Engineering facility.
“As the aviation and tourism industries continue to expand, Emirates recognizes that there will be continuing need for qualified employees at all levels of our organisation,” said Nasser bin Kherbash, Divisional Senior Vice-President, HR Development and Employee Services. “The MOU with ENDP is the perfect approach to support our UAE citizens at the high school graduate level, developing both their talent and preparing them for career growth at Emirates, as well as filling the need for this much-needed skill set going forward.”

Emirates previously onducted road shows in cooperation with the Ministry of Education to schools across the UAE to recruit for the cadets pilot programme, creating the flight crews of the future, plus targeting for a variety of managerial, technical and hospitality functions.
Over two thousand Emiratis are employed by Emirates, the 5th highest nationality in number. Approximately 24 percent are in senior management positions, 10 percent in middle management, 9 percent in engineering and11 percent are in pilot roles.Since the end of February 2012, Emirates has filled over 700 positions with Emiratis in the past year, an increase over the 500 hired in the past year.
