Etihad Airways Secures the Go-Ahead to Increase its Equity Stake to10 Percent in Virgin Australia

Etihad Airways announced that the Australian Government granted the Abu Dhabi based carrier the go-ahead to increase its equity stake in Virgin Australia Holdings to a ceiling of 10 per cent. Etihad Airways currently has a 4.99 per cent stake in Virgin Australia, acquired earlier this year, and had applied to the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) to raise the level of its investment.

Etihad Cargo Release Figures for First Half of 2012, Marking an Increase of 22 Percent in Tonnage and 13 Percent in Revenue

Etihad Airways announced its cargo division, Etihad Cargo, transported 175,000 tonnes of cargo in the first six months of 2012, a 21 per cent increase over the same period last year. The figure marks an additional 30,000 tonnes compared to first half of 2011 with revenues 13 per cent higher. Etihad Cargo operates to 87 destinations worldwide.
