Middle East Airlines Sign an IAE Aftermarket Agreement
Monday, 01 February 2010
Monday, Middle East Airlines (MEA) has signed an Aftermarket Services Agreement with IAE International Aero Engines to support the airline’s fleet of V2500 SelectOne™ in service and on order. The long term contract covers the IAE engines installed on six firm and three option Airbus A320 aircraft.

MEA took delivery of the first of these V2500 SelectOne™ powered A320 in January 2009. The airline has also operated a fleet of six Airbus A321s since 2002, also equipped with the IAE powerplant.

Mr. Mohamad El-Hout, Chairman of the Board and President at MEA, said: “We have had a long and fulfilling relationship with IAE. This agreement extends this to become a true partnership that will see us working side-by-side to ensure that our latest fleet of
V2500 SelectOne™ retain their performance benefits and enable us to get the greatest value from them.”

IAE Vice President Asia and Middle East, Chris Bewley added: “The IAE Aftermarket Services offering keeps engines maintained to the highest standards, which means MEA’s engines will retain their excellent performance levels. Our customers are increasingly finding that a maintenance solution backed by IAE offers the greatest long term benefits, both in terms of reliability and cost.”

The V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings, from 22,000 to 33,000lb, to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 Family of aircraft as well as the Airbus Corporate Jetliner. There are more than 5,500 V2500s in service or on firm order with more than 180 customers around the world.

The V2500 SelectOne™ build standard delivers an additional one percent fuel burn advantage, along with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. It improves time-on-wing by up to 20 percent, and will be compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards. It entered service on time in October 2008.
