DUBAI – In addiction to its current 30 kilogram allowance for the economy class Emirates as part of its summer promotion is increasing baggage allowances, an additional 10 kilograms to Bangladesh and 20 kilograms India and to Pakistan.

While Emirates' frequent flyers progmran Skywards members traveling to Bangladesh, India and Pakistan with silver members can have an extra 12 kilograms, gold members an extra 16 kilograms and platinum members an additional 20 kilograms.

Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ senior vice president, commercial operations (Gulf, Middle East & Iran), said: “Despite our baggage allowances being amongst the most generous in the airline industry, people still want more, particularly on certain routes and at certain times of the year.

“With our special summer campaign, hopefully, we can remove some of that packing and airport stress by increasing the complimentary baggage allowance.”

A recent survey by LV travel insurance found that UK holidaymakers have spent more than £400 million (AED 2.19 billion) on excess baggage charges in the past five years.
