Etihad Airways, and Alitalia, Italy’s flag carrier, today announced that direct Rome-Abu Dhabi flights will commence December 1, 2012. Subject to government approvals, Alitalia will operate the four weekly flights using an Airbus A330 aircraft in conjunction with codeshare partner Etihad Airways.

Etihad Airways, announced it will increase the frequency of the flight services from 28 March, 2013 to Casablanca, Morocco to daily. Etihad currently operates five weekly flight between Abu Dhabi and Casablanca, while June, 2012 marks the seventh anniversary of operations to Morocco's largest city.

Dubia, mecator, the information technology provider part of the Emirates Group have delivered a new safety management system to Emirate Airlines. The work on the system started in March 2011, with the objective to develop an integrated safety information and compliance management system. The delivered system is now operating with its launch customer, Emirates Airlines replacing mercator’s original product, Sentinel.
