Founded in 2003 by Emiri Decree, Air Arabia (listed as Air Arabia PJSC on the Dubai Financial Market) is the pioneer of low-cost travel in the Arab world. Headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, the group operates a unique “Multi-Hub” model, with several subsidiaries across the region and beyond. By early 2026, Air Arabia has solidified its position as one of the world’s most profitable airlines, driven by a lean operational model and a massive fleet expansion program.

2026 Strategic Evolution & Expansion

• The “London Gatwick” Milestone: In a major network expansion, Air Arabia announced that starting March 29, 2026, it will launch double-daily non-stop flights between Sharjah (SHJ) and London Gatwick (LGW). This marks a significant shift, as it becomes the only LCC to provide a direct link between Sharjah and the United Kingdom using its long-range narrow-body fleet.
• Global Distribution Partnership: On January 19, 2026, the airline signed a landmark partnership with AirAsia MOVE (formerly AirAsia Superapp), allowing the distribution of its entire flight inventory across Southeast Asia.
• Financial Resilience: In its most recent financial report (Q3 2025), the airline posted a record net profit of AED 656 million, a 16% increase year-on-year, demonstrating its ability to maintain high margins despite global supply chain pressures.

The “Multi-Hub” Ecosystem

Air Arabia operates via six primary hubs, each serving as a gateway to distinct regional markets:

1. Sharjah (SHJ): The main base and the group’s headquarters.
2. Abu Dhabi (3L): A joint venture with Etihad Airways (Air Arabia Abu Dhabi), which has rapidly expanded to serve over 30 destinations.

Fleet Modernization (2026 Status)

Air Arabia is currently in the early phases of its massive 120-aircraft order from Airbus:

• The Neo Transition: In September 2025, the airline took delivery of its first Airbus A320neo from its direct order. By 2026, these more fuel-efficient aircraft are being rapidly integrated to replace older “ceo” models.
• A321neo LR & XLR: The A321neo Long Range (LR) is currently the flagship for routes like London and Kuala Lumpur. The airline is scheduled to begin receiving the A321XLR in 2027, which will allow it to reach even deeper into Europe, Africa, and Asia.
• Fleet Size: As of early 2026, the combined group fleet stands at approximately 90 aircraft, all from the Airbus A320 family, ensuring maximum operational commonality.
