Description

  • Responsible for Flight Operations related Safety issues, Inspections and Investigations.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist the Accountable Manager and Manager Safety with the development of the flydubai Safety Policy and objectives
  • Develop and maintain Safety Risk Management processes as applicable to Flight Operations Hazards and Risks
  • Provide Safety Assurance as applies to Flight Operations processes and procedures
  • Ensure Safety promotion within flydubai Flight Operations personnel.

Primary Objectives:

  • Establish greater awareness and the need for, and the benefits of, a safety conscious culture in flydubai with a strong emphasis on prevention, while maintaining thoroughness of investigation and follow-up.
  • Develop a safety policy in flydubai and to ensure that the policy is implemented in its entirety.
  • Develop strategies for the continued improvement of flight and ground safety performance in order to reduce costs resulting from incidents/ accidents.

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • The Safety Specialist is a suitably qualified and trained member of the Safety Department responsible to the Manager Safety for the effective and efficient running of the Safety Management System.
  • In order to maintain the integrity of independence in investigating and reporting on safety incidents and accidents, the Safety Specialist should be fully independent of other parts of the Company.
  • The Safety Specialist will interact with flight crew, managers and departmental heads to achieve integration of all flight safety related activities.
  • The Safety Specialist is responsible for the following safety related activities:
  • Processing EFOS reports, ASRs and CSRs submitted through EFOS.
  • Maintaining a register of ASRs and CSRs.
  • Carrying out safety investigations as directed by the Manager Safety.
  • Preparing trend reports on safety issues identified by the ASR and CSR’s.
  • Analysing and investigating incidents highlighted by ASR’s and CSR’s as required.
  • At the direction of the Manager Safety, debriefing operational crew on safety incidents.
  • Providing feedback to crews on safety investigations.
  • Facilitating meetings of the SAG.
  • Maintaining the Safety Library.
  • Under the direction of the Manager Safety, help maintain the SMSM.
  • Disseminating safety information throughout the Company by means of newsletters, Safety TV’s, bulletins and safety notices and or e-messages as applicable.
  • Under the direction of the Manager Safety, carrying out safety audits of departments within the Company and of outstations.
  • Under the direction of the Manager Safety, conducting safety audits on scheduled flydubai routes.
  • Providing specialist safety information within flydubai as required.
  • Carrying out any other safety related tasks under the direction of the Manager Safety including representing flydubai at appropriate Meetings and Forums as necessary.
  • On behalf of flydubai, liaising with outside agencies and groups on safety related matters.
  • Facilitating Emergency Procedures Training for Company personnel.
  • Providing SMS training and briefing, at the appropriate level, for Company personnel.
  • Maintaining records of training provided to Company personnel.

 
Qualifications
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge and experience in: Aviation Industry with special emphasis in Commercial Flight Operations, Cabin Services.
  • Good Communication Skills and ability to work in a Team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Job Requirements

  • Above average skills in: Investigation Techniques, Report compilation.
  • Excellent skills in: Communicating with people both internally and externally. Good English language skills are a prerequisite.
  • Demonstrated ability to:  Risk Assess Hazards and mitigate Risks.
  • General knowledge of: International and Local Aviation Regulations, Safety Management Systems
  • Unrestricted and valid Travel Documents.

    Education and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience: Commercial Aviation, or previously held equivalent position.
  • Years of experience: At least 5 Years in Aviation. Cabin Crew experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Work Environment
  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the candidate may need to travel overseas. Visits to the flydubai Training premises as required, as well as on the Tarmac for Line Operations Auditing. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
