Wednesday, 30 November 2011
Paris, Sabena Technics, has appointed Jacques Bernardi as EVP Component services within the Group’s Executive Committee. He will be responsible for ensuring that all Component services customer commitments are respected, by improving turn around times and prices through optimized processes, and will also be in charge of developing Sabena technics’ component repair capability.
Jacques Bernardi began his aviation career in 1986 with UTA and then joined Air France Industries where he reorganized the company’s logistics and set up provisioning maintenance contracts with major OEMS. Jacques then integrated the purchasing departments of two major French companies, in 1998, as VP Purchasing and Logistics followed by VP Procurement for the airline Air Liberté and later in 2003, as Purchasing Director for EADS Sogerma Services. In 2006, he joined Goodrich Actuation Systems as Director Aftermarket and MRO.
Sabena technics’ Component services activity - three sites in Europe and four in the Americas (Barfield) - certifies over 100,000 components in-house every year, benefiting from logistics platforms including Paris CDG.
Technologies include: avionics, integrated drive generators, electromechanics, pneumatics, fuel, hydraulics, oxygen, aircraft structure and wheels and brakes. Sabena technics also maintains landing gear, through its Brussels and Bordeaux facilities, as well as its Dinard-based Hydrep joint-venture with Messier Services, where its shops are fully equipped to carry out all kinds of repairs and surface treatments.
"Jacques Bernardi’s renown experience, of over 25 years in the aviation industry, coupled with his airline, independent MRO and OEM background brings a real asset to Sabena technics and its customers" said Christophe Bernardini, Chief Executive Officer of Sabena technics.
