Wednesday, 14 March 2012
Dubai, Dubai International was recognized by Air Cargo Excellence Awards held in Kuala Lumpur on Monday as the "best airport for cargo in the Middle East".

This Dubai International’s previous recognition by Airports Council International’s (ACI’s) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards in February, "the best airport in the middle east and most improved airport in the middle east" for the second consecutive year.

Andrew Walsh, Vice President, Cargo & Logistics at Dubai Airports, commented “We are very pleased with the recognition, which is much coveted as a direct recognition from the industry. Dubai is the fourth busiest airport for international freight according to the Airport Council International’s latest figures and we have some of the best infrastructure and cargo facilities available. To be recognised as not only one of the world’s busiest but also the best is a great honour. We have always been focused on enhancing our customer service and the value we offer.”

As part of a 7.8 billion dollar airport expansion plan, Dubai Airports plans to increase its cargo capacity at Dubai International by adding 30,000 square meters to its cargo terminal at Dubai International over the next five years.

Organized by Air Cargo World, an industry publication, the air cargo excellence survey established in 2005, based upon a rating system covering  airlines and airports on specific criteria. In the airport survey airports are rated by airlines for performance, value, facilities, operations, and regulatory operations.
