Airbus and Lufthansa Technik Renew Component Services for the Five A300-600 ST "Beluga" Aircraft Fleet
Tuesday, 03 April 2012
Airbus SAS and Lufthansa Technik AG have renewed their existing cooperation by signing a new Total Component Support TCS® contract for the Airbus Beluga fleet consisting of five A300-600 ST aircraft.

The first component supply contract for the A300-600 ST fleet was signed in 1995. The new agreement is now valid up to 2025. The extension of the existing component supply contract reflects the increased utilization of the A300-600 ST fleet within the framework of the A350 XWB production ramp-up.

"The latest extension of the long-lasting component supply contract for the Airbus A300-600 ST fleet confirms Lufthansa Technik's strong commitment to support the Airbus Transporter in the long-term. We will contribute our part to Airbus' plans to use the Beluga fleet more intensively in the future," said Wolfgang Weynell, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Lufthansa Technik.

The Airbus Beluga fleet will be supplied with components from Lufthansa Technik's material pool and warehouses in Frankfurt and Hamburg.

The Airbus Beluga A300-600 ST fleet:

Featuring one of the most voluminous cargo holds of any civil or military aircraft flying today, the Airbus Beluga transport oversized air cargo. The Beluga (also known as the A300-600ST Super Transporter) was developed to carry complete sections of Airbus aircraft from different production sites around Europe to the final assembly lines in Toulouse or Hamburg. Its main-deck cargo volume is greater than the C5 Galaxy, the An-124 or the C-17 airlifters.

The five-aircraft fleet of Belugas is operated by Airbus Transport International (ATI). In addition to serving the internal transportation needs of Airbus, ATI offers Belugas on a charter basis to third parties.
