Frankfurt, Germany, Qatar Airways announced it became a member of International Congress and Convention Association (ICC), the international industry body covers the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market sector, with over 900 members across 90 countries worldwide.

According to the airline the objective is to generate MICE traffic to destinations around the world. The announcement comes whilst Qatar Airways prepares to take part in the meetings, events and exhibitions trade show, IMEX, taking place in Frankfurt from May 22 – 24.

As part of its efforts covering the the MICE traffic, Qatar Airways has been promoting Qatar as an international MICE destination, working closely with its destination management subsidiary Discover Qatar promote the airline’s Doha hub. The airline is also encouraging event organisers and related MICE companies to bring their business to the Gulf state.
