Recently, Alsalam Aircraft Company has welcomed Ghaida Abdullatif, Syrian Arab Airlines Managing Director & CEO, who visited the company for the first time after the Syrian Air 2 Boeing-747SP’s were inducted for heavy maintenance.

The visit aimed to check the actual status of the project workflow and the scheduled.  During the visit, Abdullatif and her team received detailed presentations on the Syrian aircraft project and observed current updated status of both aircraft in Alsalam Hangar Facilities.

Abdullatif has expressed her appreciation to Alsalam team and their efforts to meet the target completions date. She also expressed her satisfaction with the quality of work and with Alsalam capabilities and technical workforce qualification, utilizing the best and latest technology, engineering, materials and equipment to provide the best services for both aircraft.  The team was pleased with Alsalam commitment to the project and the progress achieved so far. They expressed their appreciation to the warm reception.

Alsalam currently performing heavy maintenance “D” checks on two Syrian Air Boeing 747SP’s, Alsalam will also manage Landing Gear Overhaul and eight Pratt and Whitney JT9D engines which contracted to Engine Overhaul shops capable of overhauling & repairing all JT9D engine. 

Alsalam has won the contract last December over several competitors and after gaining the confidence and approvals of the US Department of Commerce and the US Department of State and was granted the Export Licenses.

Alsalam and Syrian Air have strong business relations that dated back to 2002 when Alsalam has successfully performed the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for Syrian Air B-727 aircraft. Alsalam has a Repair Station certificate by Syrian Civil Aviation Authority. This new contract between Alsalam and Syrian Arab Airlines has been view as an extended phase of mutual business relations. It also serves to confirm Alsalam status as a strategic aviation resource in the region.

The project is expected to be completed by this year.
