SR Technics Signs Exclusive Agreements with Philippine Airlines
Monday, 12 December 2011
Zurich: SR Technics, part of the Mubadala Aerospace Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) network, announced today that it has signed exclusive Repair Cycle Management (RCM) and engine maintenance contracts with Philippine Airlines (PAL), the flag carrier of the Philippines.

The RCM agreement is for PAL’s entire Airbus fleet, totaling 33 wide and narrow body aircraft, and covering in total 2,000 part numbers. The services provided will include component maintenance, management, logistics and engineering support. The engine maintenance contract covers 21 CFM56-5C engines for the entire Airbus A340-330 fleet.

SR Technics has provided MRO support for PAL since December 2010, on a single event basis, and this expansion of the relationship demonstrates the strong service provided to date. The work for both 5 year contracts will be carried out at SR Technics’ facility in Zurich as well as with Asian partners.

James Stewart, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, commented: “To secure such significant contracts with the flag carrier of the Philippines is testament to our world class quality and reliability, demonstrating the competitiveness of our global offering. We look forward to further expanding our partnership with PAL by extending our offerings to include component and engine services. The Asia-Pacific region is an important market for the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, and we aim to build our position going forward.”

Jaime Bautista, President and COO of PAL, commented: “SR Technics has impressed us with the flexibility to tailor the right solution for PAL. The consistent and reliable turnaround times during the projects we have worked on with them this year, and their customer focused approach, mean we are delighted to grow the relationship.”

Philippine Airlines, Inc. (abbreviated as PAL) operating as Philippine Airlines, is a flag carrier of the Philippines. Is the first and oldest commercial airline in Asia operating under its original name.

Formerly one of the largest Asian airlines, PAL was severely affected by the 1997 Asian financial crisis. PAL was forced to reduce its international operations by terminating operations to Europe and eventually Middle East, and almost all domestic services excluding routes operated from Manila, reducing the size of its fleet and laying off thousands of employees. The airline was placed under receivership in 1998, gradually restoring operations to many of the destinations it previously serviced. PAL exited receivership in 2007 with plans to restore destinations serviced in the past.

The current fleet of  Philippine Airlines consist of the following:
