Daallo Airlines commenced operations in 1991 using a single wet-leased Cessna Caravan operating from Djibouti to Hargeisa, Somalia, after the defunct of Somali Airlines following the civil war in Somalia. Daallo Airlines is the Djibouti flag carrier based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with its main operating base is Djibouti-Ambouli. It operates scheduled services in East Africa Middle East, France, United Kingdom, as well as cargo and charter flights. It also operates flights for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
Daallo Airlines has interline agreements with other carriers e.g. Yemen Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Saudia, Delta Airlines, Srilankan, Alitalia and Ethiopian Airlines. Staff members: approx 250.
Djibouti Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile et de la Météorologie (DACM) revoked Daallo Airlines's Certificate of Air Transportation (equivalent to an AOC) in Sept 2009 but retained operating license utilizing foreign registered aircraft, subsequently in November 2009: Daallo Airlines was added to EU's list of banned air carrier.
