Etihad Airways based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the flag carrier. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport, and operates flights to the Middle East, North America, Africa, Europe, Far East, and Oceania. The airline was founded in July 2003, with Abu Dhabi as its hub. It currently flies to 43 destinations and plans to expandto 70 destinations in the coming two years. A subsidiary of the airline, Etihad Crystal Cargo, operates air cargo services.

Etihad Airways Secures the Go-Ahead to Increase its Equity Stake to10 Percent in Virgin Australia

Etihad Airways announced that the Australian Government granted the Abu Dhabi based carrier the go-ahead to increase its equity stake in Virgin Australia Holdings to a ceiling of 10 per cent. Etihad Airways currently has a 4.99 per cent stake in Virgin Australia, acquired earlier this year, and had applied to the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) to raise the level of its investment. Etihad Cargo Release Figures for First Half of 2012, Marking an Increase of 22 Percent in Tonnage and 13 Percent in Revenue

Etihad Airways announced its cargo division, Etihad Cargo, transported 175,000 tonnes of cargo in the first six months of 2012, a 21 per cent increase over the same period last year. Etihad Airways Selects Sharklets Wingtips for 17 of Airbus A320s on Order

Etihad Airways, has signed a contract with Airbus to install the Sharklets wingtips on seventeen A320 aircraft on order with the aircraft manufacturer. The new wingtip devices measure 2.5 metres tall, replace the aircraft’s current wingtip fence and according to Airbus will reduce fuel burn particularly over longer sectors. Read More
