Petro Air was incorporated in 2008 subject to a resolution by the General People’s Committee merging four National Oil Corporation (NOC) aviation departments (Sirte, Waha, Zuetina and Veba) into one entity. Petro Air commenced operations on the 1st June 2008, its objective is to provide aviation services and support  for all the sectors of the oil industry  in Libya, drawing on individual merged company aviation departments previous track record, noting since its operations it captured 80% market share. Staff members: approx 300.

Petro Air fleet consist of the following:

  • 1 x Embrear 170 (Engines: 2 x GE CF34-8E)
  • 1 x Fokker 28 
  • 2 x de Havilland Q300 (Engines: 2 x PW123)
  • 1 x beech Crafft King Air (Engines: 2 x PT6-68)
  • 8 x de Havilland Twin Otter (Engines: 2  x PT6A-27-34)
São José dos Campos, Embraer delivered two brand-new Embraer 170 jets, at the end of March, to the new Libyan aviation service provider Petro Air. The deal also includes purchase rights to acquire two Embraer 190s, and was concluded during the first quarter of 2010. Read More »»»
