Sana’a, Yemen Gulf Air, announced it will increase its flights frequency to Sana’a from three  to four times a week, effective 6th June 2012,  responding to growing passenger traffic. Gulf Air launched direct flights between Bahrain and Sana’a on October 2011, earlier served by a round flight via Yemen second city, Aden. 

Since the route experienced steady growth, high yields and demand leading to the airline further augmenting its flights to serve the increasing passenger numbers from Sana’ a and its neighboring regions. This additional weekly flight to Sana’a complements Gulf Air’s current operations to Aden which saw flights increased from 2 to 3 times a week, in March this year.

Samer Majali, Gulf Air chief executive officer, said, “Yemen is an important market for us and the increase in direct flights between Bahrain and Sana’a, and Bahrain and Aden is a clear indication of the huge potential of these destinations.

“We are glad to have connected two key Yemeni cities with Bahrain and the wider Gulf and Middle East region thereby facilitating robust trade, commerce and tourism. The frequency increase to Sana’a follows the encouraging response from passengers that has seen steadily increasing seat factors and yields. We anticipate and look forward to continuing strong demand on our Sana’a route. Gulf Air’s aim is to offer additional attractive options for our passengers - providing convenient, flexible and multiple travel choices at an affordable price” he concluded. 

The additional flight between Bahrain and Sana’a will depart on Wednesdays from Bahrain at the local time of 12:50pm, arriving into Sana’a at 15:25, departing Sana’a at 16:10 and arriving back into Bahrain by 18:35 thus providing  connectivity to all GCC and Indian Sub-continent markets. All four weekly flights to Sana’a are operated by a 136 seater Airbus A 320 seating 16 Falcon Gold class and 120 Economy class passengers.
