Djibouti Air Force Aircraft Inventory

The Djibouti Air Force (Force Aerienne du Djibouti- FAD ) was formed after the independence of June 27 1977. 

The Djibouti Air Force  has, for some time, been primarily concerned with logistical support and communications duties only, but in 2005 added a modest combat capability acquiring three Mi-24 'Hind' attack helicopters. 

France plays a vital role in Djibouti with more than 3000 military personnel stationed. Air defense carried out by Armee de l'Air (French Air Force) Mirage F-1C fighters backed by SA 330 Puma's of the Escadron de transport d'Outre Mer  while the Armee de Terre (French Army) utilizing the SA 330 Puma's in various transport roles for the Foreign Legion.
