Thales to Deliver an Air Traffic Management Solution to the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority in Baghdad

French defense electronics company Thales SA (HO.FR)  announced it will deliver its air traffic management solution TopSky-ATC center to the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) in Baghdad, the electronics equipment maker will also supply three RSM970S secondary radars to the ICAA. 

In 2007 Thales installed an air traffic management solution at Basrah Airport, in the southern part of the country.

With the Iraqi order, Thales air traffic management centers and towers in the region total 16, in addition to the radar coverage provided to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and Pakistan with the navaids which cover the region.

Jean-Marc Alias, vice president of Thales ATM, said: “As a destination, as a waypoint between the eastern and western hemispheres and as the hub for some of the world’s major airlines, the Middle East is a crucial ATM region.

"Iraq is in a vital regional and geographic position and as it comes out of a very difficult period, Thales will be there to support them in building a world class air traffic management network”
