dnata London's Heathrow Facility to Handle Qantas Freight

DUBAI, LONDON - dnata and Qantas Freight announced today an agreement, for dnata - UK to provide the Australian carrier freight ground handling at London’s Heathrow airport.

Under the agreement, Qantas Freight will relocate its UK office and all operations to dnata City, a purpose-built cargo logistics center located at UK’s largest airport. dnata will handle Qantas' freight for the twice-daily Airbus A380 aircraft operations to Heathrow.

dnata recently setup cargo points London Gatwick, Birmingham, East Midlands, Newcastle and Glasgow Airports.

dnata project comprises a 20-acre cargo complex covers five air freight warehouses, a transportation facility and yard for airside operations in a security-fenced area.

Three new facilities at dnata City will provide 206,000 square feet of new cargo space. The buildings will consist of a 78,000 square foot cargo warehouse with 15,000 sq ft of office space; a 54,000 sq ft facility with 11,000 sq ft of offices and a 40,000 sq ft building with 8,000 sq ft of office space.

The facilities will also feature an automated cargo handling systems, a AVI handling room, chiller rooms and valuable handling facilities.

The facilities include two existing buildings, the 140,000 square foot Cargo Point and West Point, which has a capacity of 79,000 square feet.

When complete, the complex will also encompass dnata’s existing 60,000 square foot self-contained transport yard, where it has a fleet of 85 modern trucks equipped with GPS tracking equipment providing 24/7 coverage with 4,000 truck movements currently servicing 656 flights every week.
