Description- Working alongside the General Counsel and other lawyers in the team, you will support the business by assisting with the trademarks, IT, litigation, cargo, corporate governance, general commercial/corporate work functions across the Company’s operations with a particular focus on IP and IT projects.
 
Major Areas of Responsibility- Leading the Company’s IP registration program working alongside existing legal department team members
 - Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial and corporate agreements, including IT and supply-chain
 - Providing general Legal Department support including ad hoc specialist research (such as on employment law issues or trademarks), general document management (such as developing/maintaining a file management system) and Companywide policy development
 -  Assisting with the Company’s litigation portfolio both in the UAE and outstations
 -  Assisting with the Company’s cargo business (contractual work)
 - Generally, work with, manage and negotiate effectively the use of external counsel in order to optimize value
 
Primary Objectives:
- Promote and advise on legal matters across the relevant portfolio
 - Develop and mentor interns and subordinates
 - Develop the Legal Department including precedents
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3 - 5 years corporate/finance experience gained at a reputable mid-tier/top-tier firm, preferably in an aviation context and/or financing context and having worked in the Arabian Gulf (under graduate and post-graduate experience considered)
 - Common Law qualified
 - He or she must have excellent analytical ability and have good communication skills, both written and verbal
 - Above all, he or she must be service-oriented, commercially aware and capable of working on a diverse range of client matters whilst maintaining a continuing grasp of the Company’s long term commercial goals
 - Attention to detail
 - Business Awareness
 
Education and Experience
- Educated to Tertiary standard, i.e. Degree in Law or equivalent or a Professional Diploma
 - The job holder must be a qualified member of a recognised and respected professional (law) body or affiliation (i.e admitted to practise law
 - Computer literacy is essential, both in Word Processing and Spreadsheets (preferably M/S Office software and Excel)
 - English fluency
 - Arabic knowledge an advantage, but not essential
 
Work Environment
- Working in a small-medium sized legal team of different nationalities, skill set and admission qualifications
 - Ability to manage large projects, handle large volumes of work from time to time and advise senior management on business critical matters
 - Ability to explain complex legal concepts (such as on indemnities) to internal clients
 - Ability to travel for business on short notice from time to time
