Position Description 

  • This position provides configuration, administration and support on the Oracle eBusiness Suite of applications. Analyzes, tests and implements physical Database design to support and install Oracle eBusiness applications (ERP 12i) customizations and other Oracle databases. Troubleshoots issues related to Oracle ERP Functionality and performance. Works with Oracle supports on Oracle Service Requests (SR's). 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provides upgrading, patching, cloning, tuning, and other daily activities on the Oracle eBusiness Suite of applications. Formulates processes for key metrics including architectural design, disaster recovery, data integrity, and capacity planning for physical database and applications. Audits the current environments to ensure ERP application security. Defines metrics to monitor of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
  • Creates and maintains Oracle databases for test and development as well as production environments. Analyzes, tests, and implements physical database design supporting Oracle 12i applications.
  • Implements system requirements relative to database and server needs, analyzes transactions and data volumes, and designs & develops complex databases and applications.
  • Serves as the technical expert in eBusiness Suite applications, liaise with the functional and user teams.
  • Works with Oracle Customer Support on critical issues and ensuring the operational uptime of the Oracle ERP applications systems.
  • Reviews technical documents for completeness, correctness and accuracy.
  • Develops quality entity relationship diagrams, database normalization schemas, logical to physical database mapping, data table parameters and other database architecture.
  • Monitors file system space, database allocation, and data integrity, verifies efficient use of disk storage, reclaims dead space, optimizes space allocation and avoids out-of-space conditions.
  • Maintains a backup and recovery strategy for all databases.
  • Provides daily Oracle ERP and database technical administration and support, including processing change management requests, monitoring, performance tuning and database cloning.
  • Performs software upgrades and patches of Oracle ERP applications and Oracle Strategizes and plans the installation and configuration of Oracle tools including, Oracle Enterprise Manager (Grid Control), Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Provides periodic reviews of database engine performance and monitoring levels and takes appropriate action to rectify problems. Strategizes and plans performance enhancements and improvements using best practice ERP hardware and software implementations as a guideline.
  • Participates in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies.
  • Develops database documentation and standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Oracle ERP and IT database trends and methodologies.
  • Performs controlled change management for databases in a multiple hardware/software/network environment.
  • Assists with sizing of server hardware, network, database and storage based on specific environment conditions.
  • Assist with documenting Oracle environment configurations (software versions, custom code versions and applied patches).
  • Formulates Oracle ERP security architectures for internal and public facing server components.
  • Performs Oracle application printer setup.
  • Assists with monitoring and tuning of other non-Oracle databases.
  • Assists in database and application trouble shooting as needed.
  • Supports critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed.

 

 Primary Objectives:

  • Designing and implementing load balancing of form servers and database server.
  • Maintaining, patching and upgrading Oracle ERP Applications 12i/Oracle 11g.
  • Configuring SSL in Oracle ERP Applications.
  • Enterprise Manager (Grid Control, Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), Advanced Storage Management (ASM) and Oracle Dataguard tools.
  • Oracle OEM including tuning pack, change management pack and diagnostics pack
  • E-Business applications system administration and application security: user accounts, custom menus, custom responsibilities, printer setup and concurrent managers
  • Database application, architecture and tools including state-of-the-art concepts/design/deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning, structured query language, PL/SQL, relational database design techniques, RDBMS-specific monitoring tools, and cross-platform networking in a TCP/IP environment.
  • Infrastructure components necessary to maintain and monitor applications such as, operating systems, storage units and networks including AIX/LNIX operating system, PL/SQL, and Windows OS, OLTP/DSS Design and Tuning, RAC, Dataguard, J2EE Persistence Solutions & XML, NAS/SAN, Toad, Oracle reporting techniques and, shell scripting, Identity Management, Provisioning and Enterprise SSO concepts, BI and OLAP.
  • Multi-tiered application architecture of Oracle E-Business suite.
  • Relationship development skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3 to 5 years experience in Oracle Database Administration with hands on experience in
  • Oracle Database 10/11g RAC administration,
  • Oracle e-business Suite 12.1.3, Hyperion version V.11.1.2.3
  • Administration Oracle applications 12.1.3.
  • Significant advanced level experience in design, administration, installation, and support of Oracle and other databases, experience in installing and configuring Oracle Business Suites from development through operations.
  • Experience should include patch management, cloning, RMAN, OEM.
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion Essbase to maintain the Hyperion suite which is integrated to Oracle eBusiness Suite

 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field of study
