Description/Tasks
- Provide EHS leadership and support to ensure Site compliance with applicable international and local EHS regulatory requirements
- Act as the focal point with local EHS and Airport authorities on all EHS matters, reporting and inspections
- Provide co-ordination and leadership in response to incidents
- Manage and continually improve the ISO 14000 EMS and the OSHA 18000 SMS
- Using a hands-on approach, work with line management to ensure that activities related to EHS programs: training, audits, establishing safe work practices, measurements, inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments and controls, are effectively implemented
- Help create a culture of injury-free attitudes within the line management teams
- Facilitate Site EHS measurements, analyze trends and establish, with line management, action plans for corrective and preventive actions, as required
- Lead the development of tools to support risk assessments, safe work practices and adverse event / near miss reporting & investigation
- Identify upcoming local and international EHS regulations and risk initiatives, analyze potential impacts on operations and advise Site Leadership on the acceptable means of compliance
- Assist in the development of new facilities and processes to ensure EHS requirements and practices are integrated as part of the change.
- Identify needed support from outside consultants, developing scopes of work and managing contracts. This would include securing and managing the necessary third-party resources to fill any gaps in competency or capacity
- Represent the organization at various industry associations through participation on committees or task teams
- Maintain regulatory documentation and records
- Lead and develop the EHS team to achieve organizational objectives and goals
Qualification/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or related field, with post graduate EHS qualifications, e.g. NEBOSH diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety. Process or Sigma Training is preferred.
- Eight years of professional EHS experience in aviation or pharmaceutical industries
- Have a solid, demonstrable working knowledge of EU, French, Swiss and local EHS regulatory compliance requirements
- Four years of experience leading professional and administrative staff – ability to drive results, change and teamwork
- Hands-on experience in establishing and implementing EHS management systems
- Hands-on experience in developing and implementing waste and emission minimization plans and programs
- Thorough understanding of EHS risk management, hazard identification, auditing, and related governmental reporting requirements
- Experience in conducting EHS training and supporting / coaching staff to develop and deliver safe work systems
- Ability to influence by example and work with all levels of the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively, develop and make presentations at all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to lead continual improvement projects – 5S or Green Belt trained
- Fluent speaking and writing in English and French is a must, German is a plus
