Job Purpose- The Lead Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks on Emirates and third party aircraft in accordance with laid down procedures and regulations. The Lead Aircraft Mechanic will work as part of a team under the direction and guidance of the assigned Licensed Engineer or Maintenance Manager.
- To carry out routine aircraft servicing tasks as required in accordance with maintenance manual procedures, observing all safety procedures and manufacturers/company regulations. Depending on the discipline this may include conducting general visual inspections and fluid replenishment, system servicing, re-fuelling etc.
- To carry out any component changes as necessary as part of the troubleshooting process. The mechanic must have the ability to use and comply fully with the manufacturer’s reference manuals requirements to understand the removal, installation, servicing/testing procedure and to ensure that the correct materials are being used.
- To effectively use any specialised tooling or test equipment that may be required as part of the checking, testing, replacement or servicing of a system or component.
- A complete knowledge of the airport authorities regulations regarding Airside Driving and aircraft movements may be a requirement depending on the work discipline. This will include the safe movement around aircraft on the ramp/in base including an understanding of all signs and road markings of working in such an environment if required in this area of operation.
- The ability to communicate at various levels and to liaise with other areas over technical issues in order that all relevant parties are aware of the aircrafts serviceability status.
- An understanding of the company’s documentation is essential where it is required that mechanics sign for tasks action on routine documentation.
- To ensure the maintenance of tools and equipment in the relevant work place and conducting safe working practices at all times
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have served an apprenticeship with an airline or an approved aircraft maintenance organisation or equivalent formal training in an Air Force and completed 2 years post training experience.
- An in depth knowledge of maintenance safety, human factors and general engineering practices is an essential requirement.
- For internal candidates of the Emirates Group a minimum of 3 years experience in grade EK.05 within the Emirates Engineering department
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
