The Position:
Cathay Pacific is looking for a dedicated individual to join our BICC team, to help analyze and design end-to-end BICC solutions, including EDW, ETL and BI components, and oversee development.
Key Responsibilities :- Analyze business requirements and assess suitability of BI solutions and formulate functional specifications
- Participate in all aspects of solution design including Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) data modelling, Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) data integration and Business Intelligence (BI) reporting and presentation
- Oversee and perform quality checks on development of all solution components ensuring this meets business requirements and complies with all relevant Cathay Pacific standards
- Contribute to standards and frameworks for data modelling, data integration/ETL and reporting and ensure these are being consistently used in design and development of all relevant solutions
- Create, document, reconcile and maintain logical and physical models, reflecting the state and use of data across the business
- Analyze and measure data-quality levels, identify data–quality issues, and working with data stewards, users and other IT functions to improve data quality
- Work collaboratively with Portfolio Team to show business how business intelligence plays a critical role in providing performance management and improving business management
- Communicate to rest of IT role and opportunities of supporting BI applications as part of a BI Strategy
- Help build communication across lines of business and IT, to ensure that new BI applications integrate and comply with the BI Architecture
- Working with business to measure use, effectiveness and value of BICC in relation to BI use within Cathay Pacific
- Help market BICC as a true center of competence, so that it has respect and trust of business and IT Users
- Ensure new BI applications integrate and comply with the BI architecture
- Collaborate with Project Management Practice Manager to implement a light-weight project management practice across all small scale BI projects
- Collaborate with Enterprise Testing team to define quality assurance test plans that meet Company practice and standard
- Collaborate with other IM domains to drive business and technology innovation
- Keep abreast of latest trends in BI technologies and practice, technologies on application integration, process management and service-orientated application development, as well as business strategy, business plan and latest industrial trends
Job Requirements :- A minimum of 6 years of IT experience with at least 3 years in Development
- Tertiary qualifications are essential
- Proven experience in applying Software Engineering best practices and techniques such as structured analysis, use cases and formal estimation
- Strong understanding of Database concepts and competence in SQL (preferably Oracle PL/SQL)
- Good knowledge and experience with dimensional modelling concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions etc.)
- Experience with BI Tools and technologies (data modelling, data integration/ETL INFORMATICA, reporting, metadata management, data quality management, data mining, corporate performance management etc.)Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
- Focus on end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
- Solid experience in business analysis, software development and project management
- Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
- Experience in working with off-shore resources is beneficial
