The Position:
As a key member of the BICC Leadership Team, lead the end-to-end analysis and design of BICC solutions, including EDW, ETL and BI components, and oversee development

Key Responsibilities :
  • Analyse high-level business requirements and assess suitability of BI solutions
  • Oversee detailed requirements gathering and formulation of functional specification
  • Lead all aspects of solution design including Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) data modelling, Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) data integration and Business Intelligence (BI) reporting and presentation
  • Oversee and QA the development of all solution components ensuring this meets business requirements and complies with all relevant Cathay Pacific standards
  • Contribute to standards and frameworks for data modelling, data integration/ETL and reporting and ensure these are being consistently used in the design and development of all relevant solutions
  • As part of the BICC Leadership Team, contribute to develop the overall strategic plan and priorities for how Cathay Pacific can, and should, support business intelligence and performance management.
  • Create, document, reconcile and maintain logical and physical models, reflecting the state and use of data across the business.
  • Analyse and measure data-quality levels, identify data–quality issues, and working with data stewards, users and other IT functions to improve data quality
  • Working collaboratively with the Portfolio Team to show business how business intelligence plays a critical role in providing performance management and improving business management.
  • Communicate to the rest of IT the role and opportunities of supporting BI applications as part of a BI Strategy
  • Help to build communication across lines of business and IT, to ensure that new BI applications integrate and comply with the BI Architecture
  • Working with the business to measure the use, effectiveness and value of the BICC  in relation to BI use within Cathay Pacific
  • Help to market the BICC as a true center of competence, so that it has the respect and trust of business and IT Users
  • Ensure new BI applications integrate and comply with the BI architecture
  • Collaborate with Project Management Practice Manager to implement a light-weight project management practice across all small scale BI projects
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Testing team to define the quality assurance test plans that meet the company practise and standard
  • Collaborate with other IM domains to drive business and technology innovation
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in BI technologies and practice, technologies on  application integration, process management and service-orientated application development
  • Keep abreast of the business strategy, business plan and latest industrial trends.
Job Requirements :
  • A minimum of 8 years of IT experience with at least 6 years in Development
  • Tertiary qualifications are essential
  • Proven experience in applying Software Engineering best practices and techniques such as structured analysis, use cases and formal estimation
  • Proven experience in managing a team of technology professionals (that include in-house, external, off-shore resources) to run strategic IT projects
  • Essential to have strong understanding of Database concepts and competence in SQL (preferably Oracle PL/SQL)
  • Essential to have understanding and experience with dimensional modelling concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions etc.)
  • Experience with BI Tools and technologies (data modelling, data integration/ETL, reporting, metadata management, data quality management, data mining, corporate performance management etc.)
  • Experience with data integration ETL Informatica is an advantage
  • Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
  • Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
  • Solid experience in business analysis, software development and project management
  • Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
