Job Purpose
To teach students how to fly helicopters. A commercial pilot who incorporates teaching into his profession. He evaluates the knowledge and skills of students who want to fly helicopters, achieve a higher license or rating and make a profession out of flying.
Duties & Responsibilities
Flight instructors are responsible to the CFI for:
- Complying with the daily program (take off time, sortie duration);
- Complying with the Horizon standards (content of the sortie, standard to teach the exercises, grading of the sorties.
- Ensuring that daily sortie reports are correctly completed and filed in the student’s personal file.
- Ensuring that student flying time is recorded correctly in the student’s personal file.
- Raising any necessary occurrence, incident and accident reports.
- Assisting students with logbook entries.
- Suggesting any improvement, any corrective action.
- Reporting any non-compliance.
- Correcting misconduct of any student.
- Completion of extra duties tasked by the CFI.
- Ensure that students fulfill medical requirements for flight (wear glasses, …)
Qualifications
- Graduate from university or high school
- Hold at least a degree
- Fluent in English speaking and writing
- ELP 4
To hold and maintain at all time:
- A professional pilot license and rating(s) related to the flying training courses he is appointed to conduct; plus
- An instructor rating relevant to the part of the course being conducted e.g. instrument rating instructor, flight instructor, and type/class rating instructor, as appropriate.
- Maintenance of valid medical certificate, license including endorsements and ratings are the direct responsibility of each instructor.
Knowledge, skills and Experience
- 1500 hours of flight including at least 500hours instruction
- Hold a valid license (CPL/H or ATPL/H)
- FI/H in FTO
