Buraq Air, incorporated on October 22, 2000, and commenced operations on 15 November 2001 based in Tripoli. Buraq Air operates scheduled domestic and international services. It also operates passenger and cargo charter services in support of the oil industry based on a joint venture with CHC. The hub of Buraq Air is Tripoli International Airport. The airline is the first to be privately owned in Libya. It began operations on November 15, 2001.It was reported in 1 July 2010 the UK aviation support company A J Walter supports Air Buraq's  Boeing 737-400 aircraft on a three-year agreement. It has been reported that Mrs. Safia Farkash, Muammar Qaddafi's wife is a majority share holder of the Buraq Air.
